India records 37,593 new Covid-19 cases, 648 fatalities in 24 hours

New Delhi, Aug 25, 2021: India registered 37,593 new Covid-19 cases, 648 fatalities due to the viral infection in the last 24 hours, according to the data released by Union Health Ministry.

 

The top five states which have reported maximum cases are Kerala with 24,296 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 4,355 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,585 cases, Karnataka with 1,259 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 1,248 cases.

87.1 per cent of the new Covid-19 cases are reported from these five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 64.63 per cent of the new cases.

Meanwhile, the maximum casualties due to Covid-19 were reported in Maharashtra (288), followed by Kerala with 173 daily deaths.

With this, India’s recovery rate stood at 97.67 per cent.

A total of 34,169 Covid-19 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, wpushing the recoveries tally to 3,17,54,281 across the country.

As of 8 am on Wednesday, India’s active caseload stood at 3,22,327. In the last 24 hours, active cases increased by 2,776, the health ministry said..

On vaccination front, India has administered a total of 61,90,930 doses in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 59,55,04,593.

A total of 17,92,755 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
