India registers 16,159 new Covid cases, 28 deaths in last 24 hours

New Delhi, July 06, 2022: India registered 16,159 new Covid cases and 28 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the toll to 5,25,270. The active caseload stands at 1,15,212.

 

The top five states that have registered maximum cases are Maharashtra with 3,098 cases, followed by Tamil Nadu with 2,662 cases, Kerala with 2,603 cases, West Bengal with 1,973 cases and Karnataka with 839 cases.

A total of 69.15 per cent of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Maharashtra alone responsible for 19.17 per cent of the new cases. A total of 4,54,465 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

India’s recovery rate now stands at 98.53 per cent as a total of 15,394 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total recoveries to 4,29,07,327 across the country.

In the last 24 hours, active cases have increased by 737.

Meanwhile, India has administered a total of 9,95,810 doses in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 1,98,20,86,763.
