India reports 13,451 new Covid-19 cases, 585 deaths in last 24 hours

New Delhi, Oct 27, 2021: India registered 13,451 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, 8.2 per cent higher than that reported yesterday. With the fresh cases, the country’s overall tally has mounted 3,42,15,653, according to the data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday morning.

The top five states which have registered the maximum number of Covid-19 cases are Kerala with 7,163 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 1,201 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,090 cases, West Bengal with 806 cases and Mizoram with 740 cases.

As many as 81.77 per cent of the new Covid-19 cases are reported from these five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 53.25 per cent of the new cases.

Besides, 585 more people succumbed to the infection across the country in the last 24 hours, pushing the toll to 4,55,653. The maximum casualties were reported in Kerala (482), followed by Maharashtra with 32 daily deaths.

Meanwhile, India’s recovery rate now stands at 98.19 per cent. A total of 14,021 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovered cases to 3,35,97,339.

Also, the total active Covid-19 cases declined by 1,155 in the last 24 hours. With this, India’s active caseload stands at 1,62,661 -- the lowest in 242 days, news agency ANI reported.

Coming to the vaccination status in the country, India has administered a total of 55,89,124 doses in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 1,03,53,25,577.
