New Delhi, Aug 21, 2021: India reported 34,457 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, with 375 people succumbing to the infection in the last 24 hours, according to data shared by the Union Health Ministry.
Total recoveries were at 3,15,97,982 across the country, while active cases stood at 3,61,340. In the last 24 hours, active cases declined by 2,265.
Among all the states, Kerala reported the highest Covid-19 cases at 20,224 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 4,365 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,668 cases, Karnataka with 1,453 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 1,435 cases.
These five states accounted for 84.58 per cent of the daily new cases reported on Sunday, with Kerala alone responsible for 58.69 per cent of the fresh infections.
On Saturday, 375 Covid-related fatalities were recorded. Maximum casualties were reported in Maharashtra (105), followed by Kerala with 99 deaths in the last 24 hours.
A total of 36,347 patients recovered during the last 24 hours. The recovery rate further increased to 97.54 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate continued to remain below five per cent.India conducted 17,21,205 tests during the previous day, according to the Health Ministry data.
A total of 36,36,043 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 57,61,17,350.
