New Delhi, Aug 11, 2021: India reported 38,353 new Covid-19 cases and 497 fatalities due to the infection in the last 24 hours, according to the latest update by Union Health Ministry.
As of 8 am on Wednesday, the active Covid-19 cases in the country stood at 3,86,351, which is the lowest daily tally in 140 days. In the last 24 hours, active cases declined by 2,157.
The top five states which have registered maximum number of cases are Kerala with 21,119 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 5,609 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,893 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 1,461 cases and Karnataka with 1,338 cases.
These five states reported 81.92 per cent of the new cases with Kerala alone responsible for 55.06 per cent of the fresh cases.
Maximum casualties due to Covid-19 were reported in Kerala (152), followed by Maharashtra with 137 daily deaths.
A total of 40,013 Covid-19 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, which pushed the total recoveries to 3,12,20,981 across the country.
India’s recovery rate now stood at 97.45 per cent.
India has administered 41,38,646 doses in the last 24 hours, which pushed the total tally of doses administered to 51,90,80,524.
A total of 17,77,962 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
