New Delhi, Sep 04, 2021: India registered 42,618 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours on Saturday, according to official government data. This is six per cent lower than the 45,352 cases recorded on Friday. The country’s cumulative caseload has now reached 3,29,45,907.
Additionally, India recorded 330 deaths and 36,385 recoveries in 24 hours on Saturday, as per the health ministry.
There are 4,05,681 active cases in the country at present. In the last 24 hours, the number of active cases increased by 5,903.
The weekly positivity rate is 2.63 per cent at present. It has been less than three per cent for the last 71 days.
Of the fresh cases registered on Saturday, Kerala recorded the maximum number of cases at 29,322, followed by Maharashtra with 4,313 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,568 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 1,520 cases and Karnataka with 1,220 cases.
Nearly 90 per cent of the new cases were reported in these five states alone, with Kerala logging 68.8 per cent of the new cases.
Kerala also reported the maximum Covid fatalities on Saturday with 131 deaths in 24 hours. Maharashtra witnessed 92 deaths during the same period.
A total of 36,385 patients recovered from Covid in India in the last 24 hours, which brings the total recoveries to 3,21,00,001 across the country.
India’s recovery rate now stands at 97.43 per cent. India administered a total of 58,85,687 doses in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 67,72,11,205.
