New Delhi, Dec 19, 2021: India reported 7,081 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, 0.9 per cent lower than yesterday, according to data shared by the Union Health Ministry.
This brings the country’s cumulative caseload to 3,47,40,275. Total recoveries were at 3,41,78,940 across the country. A total of 7,469 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate is now at 98.38 per cent.
India’s active caseload stands at 83,913. In the last 24 hours, active cases declined by 652.
Among all the states, Kerala reported the highest Covid-19 cases at 3,297, followed by Maharashtra with 854 cases, Tamil Nadu with 613 cases, West Bengal with 556 cases and Karnataka with 335 cases.
These five states accounted for 79.86 per cent of the daily new cases reported on Sunday, with Kerala alone responsible for 46.56 per cent of the fresh infections.
In the last 24 hours, 264 people succumbed to Covid-19, increasing the total reported death count to 4,77,422. Maximum casualties were reported in Kerala (218), followed by Maharashtra with 11 daily deaths.
India conducted 12,11,977 tests during the previous day, according to the Health Ministry data.
A total of 76,54,466 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 1,37,46,13,252.
