New Delhi, Dec 11, 2021: India reported 7,992 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, 6.0 per cent lower than yesterday, according to data shared by the Union Health Ministry.
This brings the country’s cumulative caseload to 3,46,82,736. Total recoveries were at 3,41,14,331 across the country. A total of 9,265 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate is now at 98.36 per cent.
India’s active caseload stands at 93,277. In the last 24 hours, active cases declined by 1,666.
Among all the states, Kerala reported the highest Covid-19 cases at 3,972, followed by Maharashtra with 695 cases, Tamil Nadu with 688 cases, West Bengal with 628 cases and Karnataka with 314 cases.
These five states accounted for 78.8 per cent of the daily new cases reported on Saturday, with Kerala alone responsible for 49.7 per cent of the fresh infections.
In the last 24 hours, 393 people succumbed to Covid-19, increasing the total reported death count to 4,75,128. Maximum casualties were reported in Kerala (340), followed by Maharashtra with 12 daily deaths.
India conducted 12,50,672 tests during the previous day, according to the Health Ministry data.
A total of 76,36,569 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 1,31,99,92,482.
