New Delhi, Dec 29, 2021: The Omicron cases in India reached 781 on Wednesday with Delhi reporting the maximum number of cases. In the last 24 hours, Delhi reported as many as 238 Omicron cases.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra registered 167 new cases of the Omicron variant. Gujarat and Kerala reported 73 and 65 Omicron cases respectively. As many as 241 patients in the country have recovered from the infection.
Following the recent surge in cases, most state governments have enforced restrictions including night curfew.
The union government has also approved Corbevax and Covovax Covid vaccines and anti-viral drug Molnupiravir for restricted use on adults in emergency situations, as cases continue to rise.
Delhi government activated the "Level-1" alert under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) announcing the implementation of fresh curbs, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had said the decision was taken as the Covid-19 positivity rate in the city had crossed 0.5 in 48 hours.
