New Delhi, Jul 24, 2020: India has reported over 49,000 fresh cases and 740 fatalities due to coronavirus in the past 24 hours. According to the health ministry’s updated data, the country registered 49,310 new cases, taking the total tally to 12,87,945. India now has 4,40,135 active cases and 8,17,208 people have recovered after getting infected. India’s coronavirus death toll has gone up to 30,061 after 740 new fatalities.
The National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) in Bengaluru is working on developing the first ‘made in India’ non-invasive ventilator, SwasthVayu. These ventilators can not only support Covid patients but also benefit and support patients suffering from other respiratory disorders related to complex sleep-disordered breathing.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Friday issued an advisory for Independence Day celebrations in India next month in the wake of rising coronavirus cases in the country. It has asked all government offices, states, governors to avoid congregation of public and use technology for the celebrations.
Lucknow continues to record maximum cases in UP, situation grim
Uttar Pradesh is witnessing a sharp spike in cases over the past few weeks and Lucknow continues to record the maximum number of cases in India’s most populous state. Lucknow has emerged as the new Covid-19 hotspot in Uttar Pradesh with 3,196 active cases. It may be noted that around 60 per cent of the total active cases in Lucknow have been reported this month.
Rare inflammatory syndrome in children with Covid history in family raises concern
At least three more Paediatric Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome (PMIS) cases in the BJ Wadia Hospital for Children in Mumbai has raised serious concern. The total number of kids suffering from the rate syndrome has gone up to 21 in Mumbai. All the new admissions have had a history of coronavirus cases in their families, the hospital confirmed.
