Bengaluru citizen Kiran Majumdar Shaw tweeted a photo of the upcoming post office on April 10 and wrote, "Country’s first 3D-printed post office coming up in Bengaluru - hope this is the shape of things to come!!"
S Rajendra Kumar, chief postmaster general of the Karnataka circle, told media outlets that they were "looking at building post offices with low-cost construction options using 3D printing technology". Since 3D technology is the future, he felt that such initiatives would encourage interest in low-cost housing.
The post office using 3D technology project was announced last year but it has taken off only now.
Rajendra Kumar planned to submit a report on this project so that in future, more post offices could be built using this futuristic technology.
