The aviation watchdog said that despite Go First, which was about 7 per cent of the domestic market, ceasing its operations in May this year, a 3.6 per cent increase in the total departures per week has been observed in comparison to the summer schedule of this year.

Further, compared to 22,907 departures (per week) last year during the swinter schedule, an 8.16 per cent increase has been observed with 23,732 departures per week for this year to/from 118 airports across the country.

As per DGCA data, among all the operators, IndiGo and Air India will have the highest growth in the number of flights during 2023 winter schedule.

IndiGo is set to have 13,119 departures registering a 30 per cent growth, followed by Air India with 2,367 flights registering 18 per cent growth. Amid all the turbulence, Akasa Airline has taken 790 slots per week.

Moreover, Bhatinda, Jaisalmer, Ludhiana, Nanded, Shivmoga, Salem, Utkela, Hindon and Ziro are the new new airports proposed in winter schedule by the scheduled airlines.
