New Delhi, Mar 23, 2016: An Indian missing since the Brussels attacks on Tuesday has been identified as Raghavendra Ganeshan, an Infosys employee who works in the Belgian city. The Indian embassy is making all efforts to establish contact with him.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who has been tweeting updates and assuring people of all help in Brussels, said
"We are looking to establish contact with one person of the community since last evening...we haven’t been able to do so and its a matter of concern," Indian Ambassador to Belgium Manjeev Puri told NDTV. He said Mr Ganeshan’s friends and others are also trying to contact him.
Ms Swaraj has tweeted that the two crew members of Jet Airways injured in the explosions at the Brussels airport are recovering well.
Ms Swaraj said the Brussels airport has not opened yet. "This may take some time. We are coordinating with @jetairways on alternate plans to evacuate our citizens." She said all Indian passengers stranded in Brussels are being provided hotel accommodation.
Brussels is a hub for Jet Airways and four aircraft of the airline were at the Brussels airport when the explosions occurred.
The airline said in a statement today, "Jet Airways crew who were injured in the event at Brussels airport yesterday (March 22) are safe in hospitals. Our staff in Brussels is co-ordinating with the local authorities and hospitals to ensure that all the required medical care is provided to them. We have made arrangements for family members of the injured crew to travel to Brussels. "
