Srinagar, Jul 21, 2018 : A police constable who was abducted by unidentified gunmen from his house on Friday night was found dead with multiple bullet injuries on Saturday afternoon from Qaimoh village in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
The constable has been identified as Mohammad Salim Shah.
Shah was killed by the militants after his abduction on Friday night, said a police spokesperson.
Officials said Shah had been working as a Special Police Officer (SPO) and was recently promoted to the post of the constable. He was undergoing training at Kathua in Jammu.
The constable had come home in Muthalhama of Kulgam district on leave.
No militant outfit has so far claimed responsibility for the killing.
Shah is the 25th policeman killed by militants in Jammu and Kashmir this year -- most of them in attacks in south Kashmir.
Earlier this month, police constable Javeed Ahmad Dar was abducted from his house at Vehil in Shopian district and later killed by militants, a few kilometres away from his house.
Last month, Aurangzeb, an Indian Army soldier, was abducted from a private vehicle when he was going home for Eid holidays in Shopian. Later, his body was recovered from a Pulwama village.
