Kottayam, April 09: K M Mani, chief of Kerala Congress (M) and the south Indian state’s longest serving lawmaker, dies at 86. The former Kerala finance minister admitted to the Lakeshore hospital on Sunday due to respiratory ailments.

Mani represented the Pala constituency in the Kerala Legislative Assembly for half a century, setting a record for elected representatives in India. Mani has been a legislator of Pala assembly constituency for 50 consecutive years, since 1965.
Mani had also served as Kerala finance minister in the UDF government.
