Kangana Ranaut in BJP’s 5th list, Naveen Jindal too after exiting Congress

New Delhi, Mar 25, 2024: The BJP on Sunday released its fifth list of 111 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut, former Congress MP Naveen Jindal, former judge Abhijit Gangopadhyay and actor Arun Govil were among the biggest names in the BJP list.

While Kangana Ranaut has been fielded from the Mandi seat in Himachal Pradesh, which is her birthplace, Naveen Jindal, who quit the Congress and joined the BJP earlier today, has been given a ticket from the Kurukshetra seat in Haryana.

The BJP, meanwhile, dropped Varun Gandhi from Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh and allotted the seat to former Congress leader Jitin Prasada.

However, his mother and former Union Minister Maneka Gandhi has been retained from the Sultanpur seat.

Actor Arun Govil, who essayed the role of Lord Ram in the popular TV series Ramayan, has been fielded from the Meerut Lok Sabha seat.

Former Calcutta High Court judge Abhijit Gangopadhyay got a ticket from the Tamluk seat in West Bengal.

Arjun Singh and Tapas Roy, who recently rejoined the BJP from the Trinamool Congress, will contest from the Barrackpore and Kolkata North seats, respectively.

The BJP has also given a ticket to Rekha Patra, a woman from Sandeshkhali who was a part of the protests against former Trinamool Congress leader Sheikh Shahjahan. She has been fielded from the Bashirhat Lok Sabha constituency.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is the candidate from Sambalpur in Odisha and BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra from Puri.

Rajmata Amrita Roy, a member of the Krishnanagar Royal family who joined the BJP last week, is the party candidate from Krishnanagar. She will be contesting against Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra.

Kerala BJP president K Surendran has been named as the party candidate against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from the Wayanad seat.

Former Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MLA Sita Soren, the sister-in-law of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, will fight from the Dumka constituency.

BJP’s fifth list, announced today, names 111 candidates across 17 states.
