Bengaluru, Jan 02, 2023: Addressing the rumours of a merger between dairy entities Nadini and Amul, Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai, on Sunday, denied the speculations. He added that Amul and Nandini would work together but wouldn’t be merged.
Earlier, union home minister Amit Shah stated that Amul and Nandini would work together towards setting up a primary dairy in every village of Karnataka. He added that in three years there will not be a single village in Karnataka without a primary dairy.
This set off rumours that Karnataka’s dairy entity, Nandini, would be merged with Amul. However, CM Bommai quashed these rumours by stating, “He made it clear that both Nandini and Amul should help each other by exchanging technologies and markets, they should complement each other and work. It doesn’t mean that it will be merged.”
The CM further added, “How can I comment when people speculate and criticise? Nandini will exist for 100 years and forever. There is no problem. Amul will be in its place and Nandini will be in its place. However, if they work together they will get a good profit.”
The CM also illustrated the partnership with an example. “If Nandini or Amul have good technology exchange, it will benefit them. They should not misinterpret and make politics out of it. Even as CM, I am telling you that Nandini will remain a separate entity,” assured Bommai.
Home minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Mega Dairy at Mandya, Karnataka, on Saturday. He stated that the mega-dairy inaugurated at a cost of Rs 260 crore would process 10 lakh litres of milk per day and will have the capacity to increase it up to 14 lakh litres per day.
