Karnataka: Hubli riot accused, Mohammed Arif, tries to kill self inside jail; out of danger

Bengaluru, April 30, 2022: Hubli riot accused Mohammad Arif drank turpentine inside the prison and tried to commit suicide. He was moved to hospital and is out of danger. He will be discharged soon.

A week ago, police arrested All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) corporator Nazir Ahmed Honyal, in connection with the stone-pelting incident at Old Hubli Police Station.

On April 16, a mob of 1,000 people tried to attack the Hubli police station around midnight. The mob pelted stones at the police station and 12 policemen were injured in the incident.
