Bengaluru, April 7, 2016: The father of Ismail Musab Raouf (34), who was arrested at Pune Airport by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for being an alleged sympathizer of ISIS, claimed that his son was innocent and that he was being framed in the case.
"My son has no links with the ISIS. He did not have any intention of joining the ISIS. He was returning to Dubai where he is working. I urge the government to release him," Abdul Raouf told journalists at his home in Bhatkal, coastal Karnataka.
He pointed out that his son did not to use internet or smartphone. "He is just a high school dropout. My son would never indulge in any illegal activities. The charges leveled against him are baseless. I went to Pune by bus with him to see him off," added Raouf.
He urged the Karnataka government to intervene in the matter to ensure justice for his family.
