Bengaluru, Dec 13, 2022: The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) on Tuesday handed over a memorandum to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national secretary CT Ravi seeking a ban on Halal certificates and the formation of an ’anti-Love Jihad’ police force in Karnataka. The memorandum was also submitted to MLAs of the state to enact an anti-Halal law in the upcoming Winter Session.
The pro-Hindu group has demanded to bring the "Halal Certificate Prohibition Act". A bill will be inducted in the next Karnataka Winter Session.
The HJS has also submitted the memorandum to ban the halal certificate to Karnataka Health minister K Sudhakar.
Earlier in October, HJS demanded that the government should immediately stop the system of issuing halal certificates in the country.
The party’s national spokesperson had said that the halal certificate, which was earlier restricted to meat, has now been extended to the sale of residential apartments, fashion industry, cosmetics and food products.
