In a written complaint to Governor Vajubhai Vala, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister KS Eshwarappa has claimed that the chief minister has been interfering in his department.

The five-page letter, handed over to the governor by the minister on Tuesday, says that CM Yediyurappa violated the Karnataka Government (Transaction of Business) Rules, 1977 by interfering in his department’s affairs.

The minister claimed that the chief minister sanctioned Rs 774 crore from his department’s funds, bypassing him. He alleged that CM Yediyurappa put pressure on the officials of his department to sanction money without his knowledge.

In his letter, Eshwarappa also mentioned a Rs 65 crore sanction to Bangalore Urban Zilla Panchayat. The minister claimed that he was bypassed by the chief minister during this sanction as the said panchayat is governed by CM Yediyurappa’s relative.

Eshwarappa requested the Governor to intervene and advise the chief minister to adhere to the rules and practices.

The minister also informed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda about the issue.

Reacting to the letter, Karnataka Congress incharge Randeep Surjewala said that Eshwarappa’s grievances confirm what his party has been saying for long.

“What Congress always said about Yediyurappa government has now been verified by his own minister. It’s an illegitimate government born through a stolen mandate. It is mired in corruption. It is run in an authoritarian fashion to serve one man only. It should be shown the door,” Surjewala tweeted.
