Bangalore, Feb 23 :The State government on Tuesday said it is ready to bear the entire medical expenses of ailing JD-U leader and former defence minister, George Fernandes.
"George Fernandes’s health is failing. He belongs to our state. The state government is ready to bear all his medical expenses," Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa told reporters here.
The state had earlier met the medical expenditure of former president Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy, who had made the city his home after demitting office, he said.
Yeddyurappa declined to comment on the controversy involving Fernandes’ family members over his assets. 79-year-old Fernandes, who hails from Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka, has been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
