Bengaluru, May 06, 2024: A helpline has been set up by the Special Investigation Teams (SIT) on Sunday for women who may have been affected by an alleged sex scandal involving suspended JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna. A helpline number has been provided for the survivors to report any crimes related to the case.
The SIT issued a notice, stating, "SIT sets up helpline number - 6360-938947 - for victims to come forward and report the crime in the Prajwal Revanna case."
Additionally, the SIT issued a statement warning people against spreading videos and photos of the survivors, stating that legal action will be taken. Media outlets should behave with utmost responsibility by understanding the sensitivity of the case and refraining from revealing the identities of the survivors, said the Karnataka SIT in a statement.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, a woman was rescued from a farmhouse linked to Karnataka MLA HD Revanna in Kaenahalli after allegedly being kidnapped a few days prior. This development occurred amidst the unfolding sex scandal involving suspended JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna.
The Karnataka Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) carried out an operation and successfully rescued the woman from the farmhouse, which belonged to HD Revanna’s aide Rajasekhar.
Earlier on Saturday, HD Revanna was arrested by the SIT from his father, former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda’s home, in connection with a kidnapping case registered against him. The case against HD Revanna was filed under Sections 364A (kidnapping) and 365 (forceful restraint) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), with non-bailable sections invoked by the Karnataka Police.
Following the circulation of explicit video clips allegedly involving Prajwal Revanna in Hassan, the state government established the SIT to investigate the alleged sex scandal. A lookout notice was issued against both HD Revanna and Prajwal Revanna by the SIT, with Prajwal Revanna having already departed for Germany.
