Kejriwal’s solution for falling rupee, Lakshmi-Ganesha on currency notes

Mangalore Today News Network

New Delhi, Oct 26, 2022: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday made an appeal to the Centre to put the photos of Lord Ganesha and goddess Lakshmi on currency notes along with Mahatma Gandhi’s photo. He said putting the photos of the gods on the currencies will ensure that the people of the country are blessed in their efforts to better the economy.

"If the gods are on the currency nots, the entire country will get their blessings. Lakshmi is the goddess of prosperity and Lord Ganesha is a god who keeps away troubles," added Kejriwal.

He started his speech by saying that India’s economy is in a crisis with the rupee’s value continuously falling. He said there are several steps to ensure that the economy improves, which include building more schools and hospitals and improving the infrastructure in the country.

However, he said that despite some of our best efforts, sometimes there is no good outcome and we need the blessings of the gods. The chief minister added that businessmen keep idols of the two Hindu gods in their workplace and perform puja everyday before they start the day’s work.

In the same manner, if the photos of the gods are put on currency notes, it will ensure that the efforts taken up to improve the country’s economy will bear fruit.

He added that the photos of the idols can be added to the fresh currencies that are minted every month and there is no need for a callback of the current currency notes. It will gradually get circulated among the people, he added.

Taking Indonesia’s example, Kejriwal said that despite the country having a Hindu population which is less than 2 per cent of the entire population, Lord Ganesha is printed on their currency notes. "I think this is a great step which the Central government should take up," said Kejriwal.

BJP leaders slammed the Delhi chief minister for his idea and said he was only trying to break his "Aurangzeb image".

BJP MLA Manoj Tiwari said, “Kejriwal cannot even clean the Yamuna river. His actions do not match with his words. When his thinking itself is not right, how can anyone heed his words?”

BJP leader Nalin Kohli also attacked the AAP supremo and said, “Kejriwal’s entire politics is based on the premise of saying anything to get political mileage without any concern to what should be done or whether it should be an agenda of governance.”

Sambit Patra also hit out at Kejriwal and said, "Arvind Kejriwal’s politics is now taking a U-turn. He’s the same man who declined to ever go to Ayodhya’s Ram Temple, claiming God won’t accept the prayers offered there. He’s the same man who laughed and called the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits a lie in Parliament."

Meanwhile, Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit said Kejriwal is the B team of BJP and RSS. "He doesn’t have any understanding. It is his vote politics. If he goes to Pakistan, he can also say that I am Pakistani, so vote for me," he added.
