Kerala: Weather department issues rainfall, thunderstorm warning from March 4-6

Thiruvanantapuram, Mar 03, 2022: As per the prediction by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the central parts of the South Bay of Bengal, adjoining the equatorial Indian Ocean are likely to concentrate into a depression by Thursday.

Under its influence, light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorm/lightning is expected over Kerala from March 4-6.

Rainfall and thunderstorms are likely to occur in several places in the state. The wind speed is expected to reach 45-55kmph to 65kmph over the west-central Bay of Bengal. It is likely to move towards Tamil Nadu during the next 48 hours.

All fishermen are advised not to venture into above-sea areas. On the other hand, dry weather prevailed over Kerala and Lakshadweep.

As per the report by IMD, Kottayam and Punalur recorded the maximum temperature of 38 degrees Celsius, and Punalur recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 16 degrees Celsius.
