Kerala, Aug 16, 2018 : All flights at Kochi airport have been suspended till August 26 because of floods in Kerala, it said in a statement on Thursday.
The Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) in a notice said operations have been suspended temporarily till 2pm on August 26 “due to very high flood situation and key essential facilities such as runway, taxiway and apron being submerged”.
One of the busiest airports of the country, it handles almost 1,460 flights a week.

Massive rains and flooding in Kerala have hit the transportation sector.
On Thursday, the Centre decided to send 35 more NDRF teams comprising nearly 1,000 personnel to shore up relief and rescue operations in the rain-battered state.
