Thiruvanantapuram, Sep 08, 2021: Kerala on Wednesday reported 30,196 new Covid-19 cases and 181 deaths in the past 24 hours.
The Test Positivity Rate (TPR), which was witnessing a gradual decline, rose to 17.63 per cent after testing 1,71,295 samples in the last 24 hours.
The southern state’s total caseload rose to 42,83,494. The total death toll in the state is now at 22,001.
Among the 14 districts of the state, Thrissur recorded the highest with 3,120 cases followed by Kozhikode (2,205), Ernakulam (2,029), Malappuram (1,695), Kollam (1,624), Palakkad (1,569), Thiruvananthapuram (1,483), Alappuzha (1,444), Kannur (1,262) and Kottayam (1,020).
With this, 3,28,41,859 samples have been tested till now, the state government said.
Since Tuesday, 27,579 people recovered from the infection, taking the total number to 40,21,456 and the number of active cases to 2,39,480.
There are currently 6,08,228 people under surveillance in various districts, of whom 5,75,411 are in home or institutional quarantine and 32,817 in hospitals.
Kerala government has decided to lift night curfews and withdraw the statewide Sunday lockdown, CM Pinarayi Vijayan declared on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday, CM Pinarayi Vijayan said schools and training institutes in the state continue to function on a bio-bubble model.
