Ernakulam, Jan 13, 2023: A Kerala man has been arrested for killing his wife and burying her on the premises of his house almost a year and a half ago. The Njarakkal police arrested the accused, Sajeev, from his house in Ernakulam.
Sajeev’s wife, Ramya, had gone missing in August 2021. He filed a missing complaint with Njarakkal police in February 2022. Sajeev was arrested after a scientific investigation conducted by a special police team.
The team had closely watched him when he feigned ignorance about everything. He was under surveillance for a year and was arrested after the team had gathered sufficient evidence to prosecute him.
According to the preliminary information, the victim, Ramya, was brutally murdered following an argument with her husband, Sajeev, over phone calls.
Sajeev had then buried her near the house and he stayed in the house for a year and a half. The accused was preparing for his next marriage after telling his relatives and locals that his wife had eloped with someone else.
During the investigation conducted by the police, the remains of the woman’s body were found near the sitting area of the house. Based on this and other evidence, Sajeev was arrested under murder charges and for destroying evidence.
A further probe is underway.
