Mangalore Today News Network

Thiruvanantapuram, Feb 21, 2022: On Monday, February 21, 47 lakh Kerala students in Classes 1 to 12 that follow the state syllabus (SCERT) will start attending full day classes. This comes after almost two full years of Covid-related restrictions.

Around 1.95 lakh teachers and 22,000 non-teaching staff will also be on duty full time in these schools. At the beginning, the pre-primary section of schools will function in the forenoon hours from Monday to Friday only.

General Education Minister V Sivankutty said that all arrangements have been made as per a detailed set of guidelines issued earlier by the education department. He said that the directive for full-day classes is applicable to CBSE and ICSE schools in the state too.

Students involved in the noon meal scheme will get meals from the school. While classes were held for Classes 10 and 12 during the third wave of the pandemic without disruptions, it was only during the forenoon session. The shift to full day classes is expected to help cover portions at a much faster pace.
