LPG tanker burst into flames near Kannur, Kerala: one dead, many injured

Kasargod, August 28, 2012: LPG tanker truck burst into flames near Chala temple, six km from Kannur after it met with an accident killing a woman and injuring over thirty people. The tanker turned turtle setting a house on fire killing a woman and others said the police on Tuesday, August 28.
The tanker truck carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) overturned after hitting a divider on the national highway 66 near Kannur around 11.30 pm on Monday night. A woman known as Sreelatha, aged around 50 died in the fire that engulfed her house. Condition of eight injured in the mishap is stated to be serious. Twenty-six others suffered from burn injuries and are admitted in hospitals at Kannur and Kozhikode.
The driver and the helper ran for safety before the vehicle caught fire and burst into flames. Five houses and some shops was set on fire due to the accident .
Kerala Chief Minister OommenChandy rushed to Kannur on Tuesday and met district authorities and asked them to give all assistance and help to the victims.

| All the authorities has rushed in the spot and give promises about taking safety measures when transporting tanker. They give promise that two drivers and an helper will be there in each tanker at a time. yesterday 08-09-2012 we stopped 18 tankers with only driver at 9pm at chala some of the drivers were consumed alcohol. I want to know what the authorities want to do with the people by killing them one by one. Only they want people in the time of election. After that they are all waste things in the eyes of the supreme authorities. The drivers must be placed by IOC with sufficient training. | |
