Bengaluru, March 30, 2024: Following days of intense speculation and debate, the Congress party has reached a resolution regarding the ticket allocation for the Kolar Lok Sabha constituency.
In a bid to quell internal discord, the Congress high command has officially designated K V Gowtham as its candidate for the forthcoming elections. This decision comes against a backdrop of contention between the factions led by Minister K H Muniyappa and former Minister K R Ramesh Kumar within the party.
By selecting Gowtham, the son of former mayor Vijayakumar from the Scheduled Caste community, the party aims to bridge the divide and consolidate its support base in Kolar.
Today’s announcement brings an end to the uncertainty surrounding the Kolar ticket, which had persisted even after the naming of three candidates for other constituencies in Karnataka yesterday.
Sources indicate that the high command intervened to resolve the standoff between the opposing factions, recognizing the necessity for a candidate capable of garnering support from both sides.
Gowtham’s selection is viewed as a strategic move to alleviate internal tensions and present a cohesive front leading up to the elections.
This decision underscores the party’s commitment to addressing infighting between the Muniyappa and Ramesh Kumar camps, demonstrating a willingness to prioritize unity and consensus-building within its ranks.
