Large amount of drugs, Rs 1.33 lakh recovered from 8 accused, including Aryan Khan: NCB

New Delhi, Oct 06, 2021: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Wednesday said that large amount of drugs and Rs 1.33 lakh in cash were recovered from eight people, including Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan, arrested in connection with the seizure of banned drugs from a cruise ship off the city coast.Naming the eight accused, the NCB, in a press conference, said Rs. 1.33 cash and drugs such as cocaine, mephedrone, charas, hydroponic weed and MDMA were recovered from Vikrant Chhokar, Ishmeet Singh Chadha, Arbaaz A Merchant, Aryan Khan, Mohak Jaswal, Munmun Dhamecha and Nupur Satija on the the spot on Sunday.

The agency added that the seizure was made during a raid made on International Cruise Terminal, Green Gate Mumbai and Cordillia Cruise ship.

The NCB said that it conducted a raid at Jogeshwari and intercepted one person, namely Abdul Kadir Shaikh, with ecstasy and commercial quantity of Mephedrone in his possession on Monday after interrogating accused Mohak Jaiswal.

It further said, "Based on the preliminary interrogation of accused Ishmeet Singh Chadha, a follow-up operation was launched at Goregaon, Mumbai, by the team of NCB Mumbai and intercepted one, namely Shreyas Surendra Nair, along with charas on Monday."

Gyaneshwar Singh, deputy director general of NCB, said that in follow-up operations, NCB Mumbai intercepted Manish Rajgaria, who was invited as a guest on the ship, and recovered hydroponic weed (multi strain cannabis). The NCB Mumbai also arrested one Avin Sahu who was on the cruise ship on consumption charges on Monday.

Further, the NCB Mumbai team arrested four persons, namely Gopal Jee Anand, Samir Sehgal, Manav Singhal & Bhaskar Arora who belong to an event management company on Tuesday.

"All the seizure memos (panchnamas) were drawn as per the provisions established by the law," the NCB said.

The agency went on to further name individuals associated as independent witnesses (panchas) - Prabhakar Sail, Kiran Gosavi, Manish Bhanushali, Aubrey Gomez, Adil Usmani, V Waigankar, Aparna Rane, Prakash Bahadur, Shoib Faiz, Muzammil Ibrahim.

"In total, four follow-up seizures have been affected after the seizure from the cruise following due procedure as per rules. Investigation of the case is in progress," the NCB said.

Terming allegations againt the agency as baseless, Gyaneshwar Singh further added, "Some allegations levelled against the organisation are baseless and seem to be with malice and probable prejudice that may have been harboured in retaliation against earlier legal actions carried out by NCB. The NCB reiterates that it’s procedure has been and will continue to be professionally and legally transparent and unbiased."

The NCB has so far arrested 17 people since the raid on the Goa-bound ship on Saturday. It claimed to have seized 13 grams of cocaine, five grams of MD, 21 grams of charas and 22 pills of Ecstasy and Rs 1.33 lakh in cash.
