MRTS coach catches fire in Tamil Nadu, passengers escape unhurt

Chennai, Oct 21: Daily commuters of a Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) train bound for Chennai Beach from Velacherry had a miraculous escape when the coach they were travelling in caught fire on Wednesday, railway officials said. No passenger was injured in the accident.

 

train-on-fire-...The incident occurred at around 8.30am near Perungudi and within minutes the fire service was called.

The bogey was detached and fire put out, a railways official said adding there were no injuries to passengers.

An inquiry has been ordered and the cause of the accident can only be ascertained then, he added.
