Chennai, Oct 21: Daily commuters of a Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) train bound for Chennai Beach from Velacherry had a miraculous escape when the coach they were travelling in caught fire on Wednesday, railway officials said. No passenger was injured in the accident.
The incident occurred at around 8.30am near Perungudi and within minutes the fire service was called.
The bogey was detached and fire put out, a railways official said adding there were no injuries to passengers.
An inquiry has been ordered and the cause of the accident can only be ascertained then, he added.
