Maharashtra: Teen gives birth in hostel washroom, leaves newborn in bucket

Maharashtra, Mar 02, 2020: In a shocking incident, an 18-year-old undergraduate student in Dhule district of Maharashtra gave birth to a child inside a hostel washroom, police said on Monday as to NDTV.

 

The incident took place in a Savitribai Phule Adivasi girls hostel toilet in Sakri town in Dhule district on February 29.

According to police, the girl left the child in a bucket. The warden of the hostel heard the child crying in the toilet. She found the child inside a bucket.

During the investigation, no student came forward to claim the child.

Then a suspicious student was taken for medical examination and it was revealed that the child belonged to her," Devidas Damne, Police Inspector of Sakri Police station, said.

Both the child and the student were taken to the government hospital in Dhule for further treatment. Further investigation is on in the case.
