Maharashtra, Oct 14, 2017 : Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee’s (MPCC) general secretary and spokesperson Mahadev Shelar on Saturday committed suicide in his Vilva Kunj Society residence in Mulund. The 64-year-old leader, left behind a suicide note saying he was suffering from diabetes and related ailments because of which he took the extreme step.
As per a PTI report, senior police official said Shelar ended his life by hanging from a ceiling fan at his residence at around 2.30 pm. His wife who had gone to the market when the incident took place found him hanging on her arrival.
Even though he was rushed to hospital, doctors declared him brought dead, the police official added. Another police official said that the police have found the suicide note from the spot and as per the preliminary investigation illness seems to be the reason that drove him to take the extreme step.
Police have registered a case of accidental death and further probe into the matter is underway. Shelar who was a lawyer by profession was also known for his calm nature among the party workers.
