New Delhi, April 06, 2015: In another case of road rage in angry Delhi, a 38-year-old man was beaten to death after an altercation when his motorbike hit a car near Turkman Gate in Daryaganj, the police said.
Shahnawaz was headed home on Sunday night on his motorbike with his two children sitting behind him, when he hit an approaching i20 car in what the police have described as a minor collision.
The men in the car had a heated argument with Shahnawaz and began to beat him with sticks and iron rods, the police said. He was hit on head with an iron rod and fell unconscious.
Shahnawaz was rushed to a hospital nearby, where he died.
"We have registered a case of murder and investigations are on. We are examining CCTVs installed in the area to identify the assailants," said a senior police official.
While the men who attacked Shahnawaz managed to escape, residents of the area blocked roads in protest alleging police inaction.
There were reports of the windows of cars being smashed and of some vehicles being burnt.
Some people have bee detained for the violence and there is heavy police deployment in the area.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Parmaditya said that they have information about Shahnawaz’s attackers and that they will be arrested soon.
