According to a report, the matter was brought to the attention of the police after a video of the incident went viral on social media. In the video, the dog could be seen being dragged on the road by a car.

The video was reportedly shot near Shobagpura area of Udaipur five days ago. The canine’s body was found in the same area on Friday night.

However, police say that the accused has claimed that the dog was found dead outside his garage and he took the body out to dump it in the nearby forest.

But some local residents allege that the dog was alive when he was tied to the car. According to police, the autopsy of the canine revealed that the dog died of trauma and septicemia caused due to injuries the canine suffered after he was dragged on the road.
