Indore, Dec 20, 2022: A man has been arrested for indulging in obscene acts in front of a Shivling in the premises of a temple in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore. Police said the man, identified as Wasim, was caught indulging in obscene acts on CCTV and has been arrested under the National Security Act (NSA).
The accused indulged in obscene acts before the Shivling at the Vishweshwar Mahadev Temple’s sanctum sanctorum. He also allegedly molested a woman.
“Wasim alias Ghanti (30) on Friday indulged in obscene acts before the Shivling at the Vishweshwar Mahadev Temple’s sanctum sanctorum and the same were recorded on CCTV installed in the premises,” Sanyogitaganj police station in-charge Tehzeeb Qazi said.
The accused, who runs a tyre repair shop in the city, was arrested under the NSA and sent to jail, he said.
State Home Minister Narottam Mishra dubbed the man’s conduct as highly condemnable. In a statement, Home Minister Mishra termed the acts of the accused as "heinous" and highly condemnable.
Meanwhile, Hindu organisations and mayor-in-council members have started a hunger strike outside the temple and also purified the temple. The CCTV footage revealed that the man was roaming around the area and the temple for a long time. An infuriated regional councilor and MIC member Manish Mama protested against the incident and the Resident Association purified the temple.
Regional councillors reached the spot when they received information that the man molested a woman and children.
