Manmohan Singh is like a ’Shikhandi’ for Congress: Team Anna

New Delhi, May28: Stepping up its attack on the government, Team Anna on Monday accused Manmohan Singh of turning a blind eye to corruption cases plaguing the country and said the Congress was using the Prime Minister as a shield like ’Shikhandi’.

 

 

After targeting the Prime Minister for the first time on graft charges on Saturday, Team Anna member Prashant Bhushan on Monday slammed Manmohan Singh for defending the UPA government on corruption charges.

"The Congress is using the Prime Minister as a shield like ’Shikhandi’. They say he is clean, so his cabinet must be clean. Why is the Prime Minister allowing himself to be used like ’Shikhandi’ in this manner?," said Bhushan.

RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav defended the Prime Minister and criticised Team Anna for indulging in disrespectful comments.

"PM is not only a PM but a leader and such kind of comments from Prashant Bhushan are disrespectful to a great leader who has a clean record.

’Shikhandi’ is a character in Hindu epic ’Mahabharata’, who was used by the Pandavas to kill Bhishma. Knowing that Bhishma would not attack to Shikhandi, who was not a male, Arjuna hid behind Shikhandi and attacked Bhishma with a volley of arrows.
