Hassan, May 31, 2022: Unidentified persons on Monday, May 30 vandalised idols of Hindu deities in Karnataka’s Hassan. The idols were kept at the exhibition centre of Malekallu Tirupati temple museum.
According to police, over 10 idols were vandalised. The police deployed a dog squad at the Arasikere taluk and have launched a search operation to identify the miscreants.
The vandalised idols were reportedly ready for installation and some were under construction. Besides, miscreants reportedly used rods and other equipment to break the idols.
District Superintendent of Police, Srinivas Gowda, said that the idols were kept in a private museum which does not belong to the temple.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
