Mangalore Today News Network

Bengaluru, Mar 31, 2016, DHNS: A young woman scientist at Biocon was killed and two of her colleagues suffered head injuries on Wednesday when the mini-bus attached to the company in which they were returning home rammed into a lorry on Nice Road.

MishapThe Electronic City traffic police said around 15 employees escaped unhurt.

However, the front portion of the mini-bus was badly damaged.
The scientist, Revathi (25), was a resident of Hosakerehalli in Bengaluru south. She suffered head injuries and was shifted to a nearby hospital but was declared brought dead. Revathi was a gold medalist in life sciences from Bangalore University.  She was working as scientist (molecular biology) at Biocon for the last three and a half months. Two others, Prajwal and Anup, are being treated at a hospital and are said to be out of danger.

Around 6 pm, the mini-bus was on its way to drop employees home and was heading towards Bannerghatta from Hosur Road. The driver tried to overtake a lorry but lost control over the vehicle and crashed into it.

As the mini-bus was at top speed, the front portion was completely damaged. The driver had fled by the time the police reached the spot. A Biocon staffer, on condition of anonymity, told Deccan Herald that the mini-bus usually carried around 15 to 20 employees.  “They (drivers) drive in a rash manner and the management should take note of it. The driver’s callous attitude resulted in the death of a young scientist. It is a rebirth for the other employees as the bus was severly damaged,” the employee said.
