Missing Indian climber found alive in critical condition on Nepal’s Mount Annapurna

New Delhi, April 20, 2023: Indian climber Anurag Maloo, who went missing on Monday after falling into a deep crevasse on Nepal’s Mount Annapurna, has been found alive in critical condition by rescuers, his brother was quoted by news agency PTI as saying.

Anurag Maloo, a 34-year-old Indian entrepreneur and experienced climber, went missing on Monday. Maloo fell into a crevasse below Camp III while returning from Camp IV on Monday. Mount Annapurna is the 10th highest mountain in the world.

“He is found alive. He has been taken to the hospital in critical condition, but he is still alive. We will have to shift our focus towards the medical side now,” Sudhir, his brother said.

Maloo hails from Kishangarh in Rajasthan and has been awarded REX Karamveer Chakra. He refers to himself as a "Mountain-preneur" on his LinkedIn profile and is currently the Regional Director (Asia-Pacific) and a VP at Seedstars. Maloo is an experienced climber who scaled Mount Ama Dablam last year and had plans to scale Mount Everest, Annapurna, and Lhotse in Nepal this season.

Maloo is on a mission to climb all 14 peaks above 8,000 metres and the seven highest points in all seven continents to create awareness and drive action towards achieving the UN Global Goals.
