Modi gives another spin to ’neech rajneeti’ jibe in Bihar rally

Mangalore Today News Network

New Delhi, May 7, 2014: Narendra Modi on Wednesday gave another spin to Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s charge that he was indulging in "neech rajneeti.

modi "What is called neech rajneeti? Foodgrain rots, rats eat these, Supreme Court says distribute the foodgrain among poor and the Centre refuses to distribute these and later sells these to alcohol makers for 80 paisa per kg. Isn’t this neech rajneeti? Isn’t it neech karma (low-level act)? Will you forgive this?" BJP’s prime ministerial candidate said at a rally in Valmiki Nagar in Bihar.

"During the Commonwealth Games, they ate up rupees meant for toilet papers; they ate rupees meant for making lavatories. This robbery, isn’t this neech rajneeti?" Modi, wearing a green kurta and pink jacket, said, referring to the CWG scam.

"Soldiers protect the nation but Pakistan comes and decapitates my soldiers. And the government in Delhi serves the Pakistani prime minister chicken biriyani. Isn’t this neech rajneeti?" he said, as the crowd cheered.

"Coal mines are shut and people sitting on high posts stole coal. Isn’t it neech rajneeti?" he said, citing the irregularities in the allocation of coal blocks.

This new spin comes a day after Modi said Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s remark was a jibe at his backward caste. "I cannot deny that I was born in a backward caste. But tell me: is it a crime to be born in a backward caste? Have I hated any other caste? Have I insulted elders? I am shocked that such a dirty allegation was imposed on me. I can assure that my politics is not of low level," he had said at a rally in UP on Tuesday.

Earlier on Wednesday, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi rebutted Modi’s allegations, saying, "One’s thinking can be low but there are no lower castes."
