Mumbai: Friend allegedly forces an 18-year-old girl to drink acid

Mumbai, oct 20: An 18-year-old girl was allegedly forced to drink acid by her male friend on Saturday evening in Mumbai. The police claimed that her male friend also tried to push her into the sea. The incident took place at Gorai Beach in the western suburbs of Mumbai.

The girl has been hospitalised and is in a critical condition. The accused 20-year-old Jitendra Sakhpal has been arrested and a case has been registered against him. The girl and the accused are both residents of Dahisar in Mumbai.

 

DCP Mahesh Patil said, "The boy and girl have known each other for some time. The girl said that the boy forced her into drinking acid. She has 10 per cent burns on her face and doctors are checking if she has internal burns."


One of the relatives of girl said the boy had threatened to kill the girl and her father. "We had earlier lodged a complaint about him. He used to torture her and beat her up in public. He had even threatened to kill her and her father."
