Mumbai, Nov 07, 2017 : Bunking school and roaming the streets proved fatal for some school children in Mumbai’s Malvani Marve area. Four kids got hit by a tempo here at 8am today, one of whom died on the spot.
The school children, aged nine to 13, were walking along the Malvani Marve road, known to be too narrow for two vehicles to pass side by side. At this time, an auto rickshaw was standing by the side of the road
The tempo, losing control, came from behind and hit the parked auto rickshaw, and then went on to run over the school children.
One of the children, 13-year-old Muskan Menon, died on the spot. Two other children are said to be critically injured, while the fourth one is out of danger, but in a state of shock. The auto driver survived the accident.
The three surviving children are siblings.
While the tempo driver is still at large, Mumbai police said that the DCP is personally looking in the case.
