Mumbai drugs case: Ananya Panday grilled by NCB for 4 hrs, summoned again on October 25

New Delhi, Oct 22, 2021: In connection with the Mumbai cruise drugs case, actor Ananya Panday was grilled by officials of the Narcotics Control Bureau at their office in Mumbai for nearly four hours on Friday. She has been summoned by the NCB for a third round of questioning on Monday, October 25.
As per sources, NCB officials were unable to find evidence during their questioning of Ananya Panday on Friday and that is why she has been summoned again.
Ananya Panday was first involved in the case when the NCB found chats referencing drug use between her and Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan on his mobile phone.
She was summoned by the NCB on Thursday and questioned for about two hours. The NCB also seized her laptop and two mobile phones.
Meanwhile, Aryan Khan was arrested in the case on October 3 and is lodged at Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai at present. The Bombay High Court will hear his bail application on Tuesday, October 26. Any new information found during questioning of Ananya Panday could strengthen the NCB’s argument in court against bail.
On Friday, Ananya Panday was questioned by zonal director of the NCB’s Mumbai unit, Sameer Wankhede, in his cabin. Meanwhile, her father Chunky Panday waited outside, as per sources.
She was questioned by Sameer Wankhede in the presence of investigating officer VV Singh and a woman official of the NCB
According to sources, the NCB showed Ananya Panday her chats with Aryan Khan where the latter asked her if drugs could be arranged. To this, Ananya had allegedly replied, "I will arrange". When confronted with these messages on Thursday, Ananya said she was only joking.
It is important to note that apart from these old WhatsApp chats, there is no evidence yet that Ananya Panday actually arranged drugs.
Ananya Panday maintained during the interrogation on Thursday that she has never consumed drugs and that the chats with Aryan Khan were a year old so she did not remember the details. She said she didn’t know weed is a kind of a drug, sources told India Today. She also stated, as per sources, that the communication between her and Aryan Khan was only about cigarettes.
