"My son hasn’t sought the Congress party ticket. A decision regarding his candidature will be taken based on public demand," he told reporters while answering a question regarding fielding children of senior Congress leaders in the forthcoming Assembly polls in the state.

"The High Command will issue tickets based on the survey conducted by the party poll observers. Everybody has a right to seek the Congress party ticket," he said.

On the by-election results in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, Siddaramaiah said: "It is certain that the Congress party will form the government in the state besides forming the government at the centre along with its alliance partners in 2019."

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s magic has failed to work in Uttar Pradesh. Modi visits Karnataka to deliver speeches on Hindutva. How will Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ensure the BJP’s victory in Karnataka when his party has been defeated in his own constituency," Siddaramaiah asked.
