N D Tiwari is biological father of Rohit Shekhar: Delhi High Court

New Delhi, July 27: The Delhi High Court  today announced that  veteran Congress leader N D Tiwari was the biological father of Rohit Shekhar. Justice Reva Khetrapal opened the DNA test report in her chamber in the presence of counsels of both sides, and then came to the courtroom to announce the operative part.

 

The judge announced that the DNA tests of N D Tiwari, Ujjwala Mishra and Rohit Shekhar have matched and have been found positive.

Rohit Shekhar had filed a paternity suit against N D Tiwari in Delhi High Court, claiming that he was the biological son of the Congress leader.

Tiwari had tried his best and had gone to the Delhi High Court and  Supreme Court to stall his DNA test, but the apex court ultimately ordered his DNA test to be carried out.

Even after the DNA test report came to the high court, Tiwari’s counsels tried their best to stall the report from being made public, but the  High Court yesterday struck it down.

Rohit Shekhar had been telling the court that he was being described as the "illegitimate son" of N D Tiwari, and wanted the paternity issue be resolved.

In Dehradun, N D Tiwari issued a statement alleging that it  was a "pre-planned conspiracy against him taking advantage of my simplicity".

Tiwari said, he had full sympathy with Rohit Shekhar, but he would like to appeal to the media to allow him privacy in his personal life.

"Great men like Acharya Narendram, Madan Mohan Malviya, Jayaprakash Narayan had contributed to the national movement, and I have been part of that movement.

"I never raised the dispute from my side, and it appears to be a fight between two sides based on egos and interests.

"India is a democractic country, and every person has the right to raise issues. I have full faith in the judiciary and will respect the verdict of courts", Tiwari said in his statement.

"I would request everybody to leave my personal life to myself and work collectively for the nation’s development", said the former chief minister of UP and Uttarkhand, and former Andhra Pradesh governor.
