Srinagar, Oct 11, 2022: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is conducting raids at multiple locations across Jammu and Kashmir in a terror funding case related to Al-Huda educational trust that functions as a frontal entity for the banned outfit Jamaat-e-Islami.
NIA is conducting searches at multiple locations in Rajouri, Poonch, Jammu, Srinagar, Pulwama, Budgam, Shopian and Bandipora districts.
The case is related to the "suspicious activities" of Al-Huda educational trust in J&K’s Rajouri. The central agency registered a suo-moto case based on the funding pattern and activities of Al-Huda educational trust, associated with Jamaat-e-Islami.
In March 2019, the central government banned Jamaat-e-Islami for a period of five years, citing reasons that the socio-political and religious organisation was in close touch with militant outfits.
Last month, a State Investigation Agency (SIA) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police raided multiple places owned or used by the banned group Jamaat-e-Islami and its affiliate Falah-e-Aam Trust (FAT). During the searches, the official said incriminating material including laptops, cash books, cheque books and land documents having bearing on the case against Jamaat-e-Islami were recovered and seized.
