New Delhi, May 17, 2023: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at the premises of the associates of Jaswinder Singh Multani, a member of the banned separatist outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), in more than 100 places in several states.

Jaswinder Singh Multani was involved in the planting of a bomb near Model Burail Jail in Chandigarh last year. He was arrested in Germany in 2021 for masterminding the Ludhiana court blast.

The NIA teams conducted the raids in Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and other states in response to five cases registered against the nexus of terror-narcotics-smugglers-gangsters.

According to NIA sources, the gangsters sitting abroad are allegedly attempting to spread terror by funding the Khalistani separatists.

More than 200 Red Team members of the NIA were present in raids at over 100 places, sources said.

Jaswinder Singh Multani is believed to be a close aide of SFJ founder Gurpatwant Singh Pannu and is reportedly involved in separatist activities.

Jaswinder Singh Multani had allegedly conspired to kill farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal at Singhu border during the farmers’ protest in 2020-2021. He also allegedly radicalised one Jeevan Singh to kill Balbir Singh Rajewal.

In 2019, the Centre banned SFJ under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for promoting separatist agenda and violent militancy in Punjab. The government said their activities were aimed at creating a divide between communities and disturbing the peace and communal harmony in the state.
